Seguro de Depósitos S.A. (SEDESA) is a corporation, created in 1995, with the exclusive purpose of
managing the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF).
Our role is to contribute to financial stability by guaranteeing bank deposits in the financial system.

Mission

Our mission is to guarantee certain bank deposits in financial institutions, thus contributing to the stability of the Argentine financial system.

Vision

Collaborate in the search for solutions to the fall of financial entities; manage emerging assets and liabilities after the crisis; provide incentive schemes for better risk management in financial institutions; and cover the costs derived from bankruptcies and the crisis with the help of the entire financial system.

We seek to increase the profitability of the FDG while maintaining the stability of the investments,
preserving the capital and the perception of its solvency within the guidelines established by the
BCRA.

We consider the importance and responsibility of our role as part of the financial safety net to adopt the most effective decisions for each assistance and its subsequent recovery management, towards all SEDESA's public (savers, contributing institutions and shareholders).

We adhere and strive to achieve high professional standards within an ethical framework to implement the best practices as regards Deposit Insurance while respecting the information´s value that is part of our work.

We establish clear conditions in all transactions in which SEDESA intervenes and we respect the process established for decision-making pursuant to the current regulations.

Core Principles for Effective Insurance Systems
  • The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) was established in 2002 as a non-profit organization with the purpose of contributing to the stability of the financial systems by promoting international cooperation in relation to deposit insurance, providing guidelines for the establishment of new deposit insurance systems and the improvement of existing ones, as well as fostering a broad international relationship between deposit insurers and other interested parties. IADI currently comprises more than 100 deposit insurers and institutions worldwide. SEDESA, as a founding member, has been actively participating since 2002.
  • The International Association of Deposit Insurers, among other issues; conducts research and provides advice on deposit insurance; promotes the effectiveness of the deposit insurance systems and interacts with international financial organizations in the promotion thereof; promotes the effectiveness of the deposit insurance systems and interacts with international financial organizations in the promotion thereof; encourage the relationship between deposit insurers of all countries by facilitating the exchange of information, knowledge and experience. In order to improve the effectiveness of deposit insurance and to best meet the needs of its members, IADI has approved the Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems which serve as a reference and framework for improving the effectiveness of the already established deposit insurance systems or those to be established.
  • The Core Principles and their application methodology are used as a framework for improving the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems and identifying possible improvements. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) also consider the Core Principles under the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) to assess the effectiveness of countries' or jurisdictions' deposit insurance systems and practices.

Quality Certification

SEDESA has quality management systems that are certified by the Argentine Institute for Standardisation and Certification (IRAM) under numbers 9000-4216 and 9000-4999.
They comply with the requirements of the IRAM-ISO 9001:2015 Standard with the following scopes: “Administration of the available balances of the Deposit Guarantee Fund” and “Realization and sale of real estate, to integrate the available balances of the Deposit Guarantee Fund”, respectively.
